Outlining Aims and Objectives

 1. An important aim for the project as a whole is to develop skills in conducting and presenting research. My articles are based on the real life aspect of the monetary side of the music industry and these facts and figures will be necessary to present an accurate picture of any recent changes or struggles involved. I can use these figures to interpret the state of a certain area of the industry, which may draw on my opinion, but helps the articles have a factual basis rather than complete opinion-based ideas.

2. At the end of this project, I would also like to be able to present my project confidently to others. In the past, I have struggled to present confidently to a group of people when doing classwork in groups, for example. However, I hope to be more confident in this presentation because of my research into the topic. My hope is for those who have never thought about these topics to be able to understand and acknowledge the changes in the industry without prior knowledge of the ideas.

3. My project will also allow me to learn new skills when using a computer program to help me create a final project. I will be using Adobe InDesign to design the magazine I hope to produce, a program which I have never used before. It is often utilised at a university level and is extremely unfamiliar to me. I hope to use the internet, through YouTube and web articles, in order to learn the process of designing a magazine on the program, whilst researching the typical conventions of a magazine's appeal.

4. My final aim for the project is to develop more knowledge about a topic I am interested in and aim to continue as a career. I would like to go on to study journalism at university and many of the skills learned during my project are also necessary in the course. I will need to be able use what I have learnt in InDesign and apply to it to new briefs and projects. My EPQ will also give me experience in handling and planning independent assignments, meeting specific requirements along the way.
