1. Develop skills in conducting and presenting research.
I would like to be able to learn how to collect the most relevant information to use in my project, and also be able to incorporate them into my article smoothly. Integrating any facts and figures into the text, rather then just attaching them onto a statement, will improve the quality of my project, by making the information flow better and make the whole text better to read.
2. To be able to present my project confidently to others.
In the past, I have found it difficult to be confident when presenting a project to a group of people. With this project, I aim to become more confident when doing this. I hope that the length of time I will spend researching and learning about my topic will allow me to become more outgoing when it comes to the presentation at the end of my EPQ.
3. Learn new skills when using a computer program to help me create a final product.
The main aim of my project, aside from creating an informative piece, is to show newly developed skills throughout the end project. Using a program like InDesign will allow me to learn new things whilst incorporating the facts and figures I have collected over time through secondary research, and including the data from my primary research.
4. Develop more knowledge about a topic I am interested in and aim to continue as a career.
In the future, I hope to follow a career in music journalism. Whilst I may not write directly about record labels, I believe it is an important factor to understand. Clearly understanding the different directions a musician can take when pursuing music will, I believe, benefit me greatly. Some musicians may not choose to sign with a label, and I believe this project will help me clarify why this may be, how it can change the way music distribution is approached, and why this links to the level of struggle someone may face when they're trying to get their music out there.
