Choosing Images For My Magazine

For my images, I have chosen to use a website called Unsplash. This is a website I learned about through my sister, who is a current graphic design student. It provides a vast array of copyright-free images that I can use in my publication. The searching process is very simple and the images are all different, whilst staying within my chosen area. The copyright-free aspect of all of my images is very important as, if this was an actual publication, I would need to get permission for images if I wanted to use the image in the magazine. Using this website, I'm using images that the artist/photographer has uploaded themselves, giving permission for anyone to use them.

Cover Image:

I chose this image because I wanted an artistic cover that would be adaptable for different issues if my magazine was a monthly publication. The image behind the white text could be changed each month. The image I have currently links to the issue as a whole because of its cultural references. In the magazine, I hope to target the information at certain groups in society and possibly widen their view of the music industry as a whole. The industry is forever influenced by the society surrounding it, with the cultural references in the cover image being a reminder of this.
Update: I have since changed the design of my front cover after designing the main body of my magazine. I felt that the previous image, whilst standing for social change, it didn't really maintain the cohesive design I was aiming for in order to create a magazine that was as realistic as possible. I have now chosen a concert photo, also from Unsplash, that I feel allows to continue the design ideas I had, fitting the zine-style publication I wanted to produce.

Streaming Images:

As part of my design, I wanted to include the Spotify logo. I will not be able to find a copyright-free version of this image, as it belongs to a trademarked company. In order to get a clear image that will print well, I will use Google Images.
Update: This design plan has now also changed as I wasn't happy with how the final design looked after going down this path. I have maintained the Spotify theme, but I have chosen a clearer, more eye-catching image that, despite the relatively simple layout of the main sections of my magazine, allows me to make the spread more interesting without being too cluttered or too plain.
