Form:
My magazine will be produced in a zine-style, mirroring many local music publications. I chose to create this style of magazine because of its smaller size and less content. I will not be producing a large amount of articles for my project, as this may be too time consuming, but the three articles I aim to produce will allow me to develop design skills with different spreads and outline the major components of a music magazine. This format will also allow me to print the final product easier and cheaper, as a full A4 magazine would be quite expensive. The overall style of my magazine that I currently had in-mind suits the zine style extremely well, allowing me to highlight key components of the publication, whilst undertaking a manageable workload alongside my school work, working towards a realistic finish date for the project as a whole.
Audience:
I have decided to direct my magazine's design towards a more alternative audience. This is the type of music I listen to on a regular basis and the majority of the music magazines I have purchased and read myself are directed to listeners of this specific genre too. By following my own experience, I hope to be able to produce a cohesive design throughout my magazine that mirrors the design models of the magazines I own.
The magazine as a whole is directed at a local audience, linking to it's form. The smaller, zine-style publication suits a local audience because of the lower amount of articles. The advertisements that I have chosen to include are of fellow students who are pursuing music in their spare time. This means that the magazine as a whole is directed to a market around my area. My articles are aimed to inform those wanting to pursue music, so including this bracket of the public in the actual design features of my magazine will create a cohesive link between the purpose and the audience.
